Guides · For everyone
Proton Mail encrypts mail end to end, so mail programs connect through Proton Mail Bridge, which runs on the same computer. Neruna finds it by itself.
A paid Proton plan (the Bridge is not available for free accounts) and Proton Mail Bridge, installed from proton.me/mail/bridge and signed in with your Proton account.
Start the Bridge. In Neruna: Add account → Proton Mail (Bridge). Neruna looks for the Bridge and fills in ports and encryption.
Click your account in the Bridge: under “Mailbox details” (“Configure email client” in some versions) you find user name and password, each with a copy button.
Enter both in Neruna. The Bridge password is not your Proton password.
The defaults are IMAP 1143 and SMTP 1025 with STARTTLS on 127.0.0.1. If you changed the ports in the Bridge (Settings → Advanced), Neruna checks the open ports of this computer and recognises the Bridge by its greeting. Neruna remembers the Bridge's self-signed certificate when setting up; after reinstalling the Bridge, run “Find Bridge” again in the account.
